Idol worship is the most detested sin by God. God views it as disgusting, loathsome, pointless, violent, foolish, unbeneficial, and unclean. To enter and occupy the Promised Land, God instructed the Israelites to destroy the statues of heathen gods by fire. God stressed the severity of this act by warning them not to covet wealth and riches obtained through idolatry or cult practices, as it is repugnant to God. Not only were they warned to burn the images with fire but also warned never to set up such images because God says He hates it.
God will not save you if you become involved with a cult, associate with a wicked organization, or worship Him through idols. If you are rescued, it is a chance for you to turn away from your wrongdoing. God deeply despises idol worship, cult practices, and the making of graven images.
Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

Nebuchadnezzar had the chance to learn about the proper way to worship God and even acknowledged that God is the supreme deity, the ruler of all gods, and the revealer of secrets (Daniel 2:47), yet he failed to truly convert. Holding a position of authority, such as being an ordained minister, a church leader, or even a bishop in a powerful organization, does not exempt you from punishment if you engage in idol worship or bow down to images. People are inherently religious and either worship the true God or a false one. Despite Nebuchadnezzar’s public declaration of God’s greatness, he still created and worshiped a golden image. He went even further by forcing world leaders and the people under them to bow down and worship the image.
Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up.
Daniel 3:4-5
Since the fall of Satan, he has attempted severally through world leaders to coerce people into worshiping him. In the time of Nebuchadnezzar, he used the princes of the earth, the governors or the presidents of the countries of the then known world and all the rulers of their provinces to force people to bow down to the devil by worshiping graven images. The devil nearly succeeded if not that the Jews – Shadrack, Meshach, and Abednego – resisted him and refused to bow down to the image.
In your family, community, office, church, place of worship, market place and nation, are you the only person that is still standing for God? Are you the only one who has not joined the cult? carefully think on these words.
