The aftermath of losing a loved one is often overwhelming. While no one can question God for calling any of us to glory, it is very important that you commit your life into the hands of God as a widow or widower. God truly comforts the heart and provides relief. Therefore, it cannot be better elsewhere.
God cares for everyone and widows alike. He expects them to commit to him. It is not possible for you to be committed to God without being born again. Being born-again is the start of your success as well as the start of a true Christian or spiritual life. Human success on Earth is determined by the seeds we plant. This is a godly principle.

Similarly, the eyes of the Lord sees every human activity on earth. God expects every human to sow good seeds according to what he or she has received. Jesus monitors every activity on earth to see how committed you are. Poor and rich widows are equally expected to contribute to the propagation of the gospel. No matter how poor you are, Jesus expects a little of what you have. Widows who are not born again yet are expected to be born again just like every other true believer on earth.
“And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living”
Mark 12:41-44
Anna was a widow who kept herself pure and holy, and God empowered her with the gifts of a prophet. She was only married for seven years before her husband died. Though she married as a virgin, she remained a widow for about 84 years as a prophet. She then worked for God in the temple, fasting and praying night and day. Eventually, she lived to see Christ, for whose coming she prayed for many years.
The Lord also honors widows. If, as a widow, you are sleeping around, breaking people’s marriages, and committing adultery, you are not a Christian, and you cannot be regarded as a virtuous woman. A widow who lives a life of pleasure is spiritually dead.

“1Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; 2The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity. 3Honor widows that are widows indeed. 4But if any widow has children or nephews let them learn first to show piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God. 5Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusted in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. 6But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth. 9Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man”
1 Timothy 5:1-6, 9
You should prepare and live your life in righteousness, even as a widow, and you will receive God’s blessings. Virtuous widows are women of faith. They trust God and his prophets. They obey God’s word and love God. I encourage you today to change your ways if you have deviated, find your steps back to God, and start to live in obedience to His word.
