College: The Best or the Rest?

I have come to understand that God wants us to be the best in everything that we do. He does not celebrate mediocrity! Being uneducated in this sophisticated world can be very costly. It can limit and relegate a person to a pit. In other words, going to college provides you an advantage over others who did not. A school is an institution that provides instruction and learning. It is a place where students, college or university, are taught. Students go to school to broaden their wisdom and knowledge.

Here’s what…

Have you noticed how those who are privileged, who have almost everything they need to go to school, are the ones that underperform? While the less privileged ones seem to be super talented and if you take the smallest chance on them they blow up in success? Students who are diligent often make the best students. Likewise, it is also possible to attend school without learning anything. Students who are not diligent and do not know the purpose of their being at school often make the worst students.

Parents or guardians are the first teachers and instructors you can get. God was the first to instruct Adam. He put Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and provided everything they needed. He equally instructed them what they should or should not do. Unfortunately, they were not diligent enough to obey all instructions.

“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die”

Genesis 2:15-17

Unschooled students easily lose their places in life and hand the control of their destinies to their enemies. It is a good thing that one is taught how to live and an even better thing to obey instructions. A good student keeps instructions, but an unschooled student abandons instructions and obeys the devil.

Learning Vs Practice

Ironically, many students pass their exams without learning what they were taught. When you do not practice or put your knowledge into action, it clearly means that you have not been schooled properly. The best student is not always one who scores the highest marks in exams, but also one who puts into practice what he was taught at school and keeps the rules and regulations. The ability to pass a written test without putting them into practice was not the only purpose you went to school. Adam passed every exam but when it came to implementation, he failed woefully.

“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat”

Genesis 3:6

It is possible to fail sometimes, but it is unacceptable to continue failing because you failed earlier. Furthermore, God is not separate from your academics; you need God if you really want to be a good student in the grace of God. God can help you to improve on what you were taught at school and become more effective than your teachers. However, you cannot be greater than God is or achieve anything good without Him. That was why Jesus said,

For without Me, you can do nothing

John 15:5

Finally, Students are to embrace godly guidance for it is their place of safety. Each school has laws and regulations that guide it. When students follow these laws and regulations properly, they become highly successful. Students who do not obey laws and regulations do not prosper in whatever they do in their lives. As you pray these prayers, may God give you a clearer perspective and help you in Jesus’ name.
