“For All” Mercy of God

“God’s Mercy” Defined

When God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, the mercy of God accompanied the anointing. The result was that he went about doing good. His ministry of mercy was healing all that were possessed of the devil. The mercy of God is for all; however, it cannot be forced on anyone without his choice. No matter your religion, you are qualified to obtain mercy from God if you demand it through faith, obedience to God, and not through disobedience and false hope.

Mercy can be translated as kindness, loving kindness, good, goodness, pity, and compassion. It is a deep and tender feeling of compassion. God’s mercy entails His having a deep and tender feeling of compassion towards us. It is actually being compassionate and aroused by the sight of weakness or suffering. It means to bend or stoop in kindness or loyalty to an inferior person, to favor or bestow something to him and to be considerate often when it is not expected or deserved.

In addition, it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

“Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.”

Luke 7:12-15

When Jesus entered into the city of Nain, he met the youths near the gate of the city, going to bury a young boy, the only son of the mother. That not only, the woman had little or no opportunity to have another son as a widow, her son may have been killed in a wicked way. The power behind his death may have been human agents who wanted to keep this widow miserable all the days of her life. They must have planned how to deal with the widow. When Jesus saw how wickedly the devil and his agents had dealt with this woman, He had compassion on her. Mercy, which is God’s compassion, came not because the widow merited it. God’s goodness upon the woman came by a deep tender feeling of compassion. The sight of wickedness and hopelessness that Jesus saw in the widow aroused it. When a suffering person presents himself to God and asks for His mercy, Jesus will be moved to have compassion. He will stoop with kindness to release His mercy.

The Power of Mercy

The mercy of God is more powerful than death. It can stop the power of death at the gate, restore life to the weak, and deliver the weak from the powers that are stronger than he is.

The mercy of God can bring strength unto the weak, and raise the dead from death. It can restore your lost rights, benefits, and entitlements. It can cleanse your tears, comfort you, and quicken your mortal bodies. The mercy of God is forbearance towards someone in your power. It is getting involved in a matter beyond the rule or law to help the unworthy, helpless person.

“But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. His seed also will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.” Psalms 89:24-29.

God’s mercy can lift up the down trodden, the rejected, and forsaken poor person. God’s mercy can adopt the fatherless into God’s family and make him God’s firstborn, higher than earthly kings. When God’s mercy is released unto someone, his level changes and he will live on earth as if he lives in heaven. When others are crying on earth for hardship, he will be rejoicing because his source is from heaven, not on earth. His Father is in heaven, not on earth. There is a measure of God’s mercy you will receive that you will be on earth, but live as an ambassador on earth. The earth’s problems and calamities will not touch you, because you are a stranger here.

When you obtain God’s favor, you will not be afraid of problems, (even death), because your home is in heaven, your father is in heaven, your savior is in heaven, your name is in heaven. Your life, treasures, affections, heart, inheritance and citizenship is not on earth but in heaven.
