Praying the Wrong Prayers

While God may say no to your selfish prayers, there will be times when he will say no to the wrong prayers. This is where you begin to ask if there is such a thing as the right or wrong prayer. Well, there it is.

When you pray against God’s plans for your life, He may say no to your prayers. For instance, when Elijah bore the message of God, but because of so much suffering as a result of witchcraft attacks, he prayed for death, but God said no.

“And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers”

When you have the message of God like Elijah, no matter how you or your enemies pray and fight against you, God will definitely say no. The right prayers a true believer should pray are the ones according to God’s Word (Jonah 2:1–6). You may not be a preacher, but if you have been given something to deliver to your generation, your prayers or those of your enemies may not kill you easily. Therefore, praying the right prayers guarantees that God will answer you.

A lot of times, life throws challenges and misfortunes your way, so much so that you become worn out and feel hopeless, and all you desire is an end to your problems. The devil can deceive you at this time and make you resign to your fate, blind you to the need to pray, and you may even begin to wish yourself evil.

It happened to Jeremiah when he came to the crossroads of his life. He gave up hope and requested death. He was waiting for death and, as a result, he saw no need to pray any longer, but the Lord proved him wrong. He forgot that he was a carrier of God’s message with grace to write many great and mighty things. God is looking forward to hearing your prayers. I challenge you to pray, because the Lord will not turn you down. No matter your situation, if you meet God’s demand, he will deliver you and will not say no to your prayers.

“Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not”
