The commandment For the Home!

The very first duty of a wife in a home is submission to the husband as God demands. Absolute submission must be observed without any condition and in the spirit of love. As Scriptures put it:

“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord”

(Colossians 3:18).

“That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed”

(Titus 2:4-5).

Children, especially young women, are guided by a wife’s submission to her husband in terms of how to submit and maintain sobriety. Evil spirits cannot enter a place where there is love. Women are the primary owners and custodian of households, and as a result, the children in the family learn how to obey God from their mothers.

Wives who are obedient to their husbands inspire the rest of the family members to be obedient also. Submission suggests the presence of intimacy and mutual understanding between husband and wife, having one mind and will. Through submission, a wife honors her husband as her head.

“Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement” .

(1 Peter 3:6)

“But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God”.

(1 Corinthians 11:3)

God ordained that the husband should be the head and wife, the body. The Scriptures declared Sarah as an epitome of submission, who honored her husband calling him lord. The duty of the wife is to obey her husband in all domestic matters and in everything except that, which is contrary to faith and pure conscience. Where God’s authority is made plain, the authority of the husband that contradicts God’s Word ceases. In such case, it is better to obey God that men.

“But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye”

(Acts 4:19).

Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said we ought to obey God rather than men

(Acts 5:29).

The spouse has the authority to decide how his family lives and experiences life. The wife must disagree with her husband’s choice with respect, excellent manners, making her case respectfully, and leaving the matter in God’s hands even after giving her reasoning. He directs or regulates the education of his family members and employment. She owes it to her spouse and her entire family to make them happy.

“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything”

(Ephesians 5:22-24).

A virtuous wife cooperates with her husband in spiritual and family matters. A husband must be respected and not to be reduced to a part-time nurse or babysitter, while the wife becomes the head mistress over her husband. Women who submit to their husbands are obeying God’s command and the Lord rewards them for doing so. Even when your husband is not meeting up with his responsibilities, you, as a wife, have no reason to fail in your duties too.

You must be truthful and faithful to your husband. You must recognize and joyfully accept and respect your husband’s position as the head of the family as ordained by God. You should not do so only when he is kind to you or when he merits your obedience. With time, God will touch your husband and he will do all that God expects of him.

One of the greatest problems in many homes is impatience. A husband and his wife ought to be patient people in their home. You can focus on fulfilling God’s command to you as an individual instead of finding faults. No wise woman will pull down her own house because she sees another woman doing so. A wise woman builds her house.

Many women have left their husbands to suffer alone because they failed to meet up with their God-given role as the head. That is how such women give the devil a place in their lives. As a result, devil stepped in and did great damages in those families. The Scriptures warned:

“Neither give place to the devil”

(Ephesians 4:27).

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”

(James 4:7).
