The Heart of Man

Man is not perfect, and even more so the heart of man, and as a result, God uses His word as a mirror to discover the state of a man’s heart. Only God has the power to use the scriptures to discover how deceitful, desperate, and wicked the heart is and to expose it without fear.

The word of God penetrates the reins to discover man’s ways in the heart before they play out. It enters the heart and exposes all the hidden agendas in it.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Jeremiah 17:9-10

While man may not be perfect, the scripture is perfect, and those who look up to God’s word are made perfect. Every hidden deception of man is revealed by God’s word, condemned, and rebuked by God through His word. The hypocrites in the heart are discovered by God’s word.

If you are a true believer, you should yearn to be perfect, and in order to do this, you need to study God’s word with an intense desire to know God more. Your understanding about God and things will be made plain. You will be rightly guided by God’s Spirit to know the doctrines of God. You will know what is right and wrong and will be rightly instructed in righteousness. This requires your decision to pursue God’s instructions in His word, making personal sacrifices to know the scriptures, which will not be wasted because you will be furnished for all good works.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

When you take the word of God seriously with a fixed purpose to know God and do His will, sin will not rule over you. This is because the word of God is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path. The word of God is also food for your soul. It keeps the soul alive, even at the point of physical disappointment. Job esteemed the word of God more than his necessary food. That was what kept him alive under the attack of demonic forces. Likewise, Jeremiah, who described the word of God as fire and as a hammer that breaks the rock into pieces,

Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth you more than my necessary food.

Job 23:12

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

Jeremiah 23:29

If you want God’s word to effectively minister to you, you have to forget whatever you know about Him and be ready to accept His word as it is written. Consciousness of your personal social class in the society may be a big hindrance in your understanding God’s word. Whether you are part of the intellectual, wealthy, or influential class, you should humble yourself before God in order to understand His word.

However, committing yourself to a doctrine with the readiness to defend such doctrine even when God’s word opposes it will not help you or allow God to minister to you through His word. When you have a denominational demon, you cannot be ministered to by God’s word. All that you are taught in school, church, or elsewhere is useless when God’s word opposes it.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Colossians 2:8

As such, your opinion is not needed when it is contrary to God’s word. Everything you do outside of God’s word will prevent you from benefiting from the ministry of God’s word.
