The Importance of Holiness in Our Lives

It is our responsibility to keep ourselves pure as believers in order to keep the world holy and habitable. We must not live to defile others in our families, churches, nations, or the entire world. Breaking the word of God through unholy or evil relationships (boyfriend or girlfriend) as is common among youths today is a thing of concern, and God is not happy about it. It causes destruction down to the root of one’s life.

An adult who practices immorality is not only a disgrace to God but also to the younger people who are supposed to take examples from such an adult (1 Corinthians 10:8, 11; 2–5). Likewise, a leader who practices immorality is issuing a license to the devil to deal with his followers.

Pastors who receive evil gifts from people without knowing how they got them encourage them to do more evil. The same goes to parents who receive gifts from their children anyway. Pastors or parents who do not rebuke evil in their churches or homes encourage the people to scam other people or commit immorality.

Similarly, pastors who commit immorality with their members are God’s enemies because they are crucifying Jesus Christ on the cross a second time. Any man who forces a lady to engage in sexual immorality is the same as a man who sins with a woman in front of her husband or father. And any so-called Christian who commits fornication or adultery in the Christian fold turns God’s house into a brothel.

Causes of Immorality with Scriptures

1. Love of the world in fashion or dressing (Genesis. 38: 13-16; Isaiah 3: 16-26).
2. Talkativeness or foolish talking (Proverbs. 7:5, 23; 24:14).
3. Doubt (James 1:8).
4. Unnecessary visits (Genesis. 34:1-3); 2 Samuel. 13: 16-20).
5. Sinful imitation (Ephesians. 4: 17-20; 1Thessalonians. 4: 3-7).
6. Unholy familiarity (Proverbs. 5: 3-4; Numbers. 25: 1-3).
7. Unbecoming exchange of presents (Exodus. 23:8; Ecclesiastes. 7:7).
