The Whys of Marriage: What You Need to Know About Your Marriage

Do you know that God has a plan for your marriage? Often times, people jump into marriage without knowing what God has planned for their marriage and what is expected of them in marriage. God has great plans for marriage and it all started with Adam.

When God saw that man needed a helpmeet, He made provisions for Adam’s helpmeet. God used Adam’s rib to create the woman and they became one flesh. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Whatever He pronounced to be good is good. Except for the few who are eunuchs, all others cannot survive alone and fulfill their destiny on earth except they get married.

“The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?  And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.”

Matthew 19:3-5,12

God would rather not see us alone which is why the institution of marriage was created lest we fall into the dirty hands of immorality. Marriage is an institution that binds two individuals as one for the journey of life and purpose and as a newly married couple, old things are passed away and all things are become new! The things you do, decisions that you make, people you call friends now become mutual with your partner. The old way of doing things which may be pleasing to your family will have to be revisited; your partner becomes your priority even over your family and friends.

This may be a problem for a couple who neither have the required qualities nor understand what is expected of them in marriage because in marriage, you are apart from your family and one with your partner.

“But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Mark 10:6-9

As they say, “marriage is a beautiful thing” and God took his time to make it worth your while. This is why when you let God into your marriage, you will experience the beauty of his holiness and purpose.

Marriage provides companionship, comfort, love, fellowship, and partnership. It is difficult to enjoy these things except in a divine marriage.

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?”

Ecclesiastes 4:9-11

However, as beautiful as marriage can be, it can also turn sour when enemies rear their ugly head. Have you ever wondered why suddenly your marriage is not enough for you anymore? You feel something is missing yet you can’t seem to figure it out? You want “more” in your marriage? It seems as though you’re stagnant?

Your enemies are at work to ensure that you do not fully enjoy the blessings that God has set for you in your marriage. It is not over as something can be done to get rid of these enemies. If you desire to have a fulfilling, joyful, satisfying marriage devoid of the enemy, you can achieve this.
