What is a Dream?
Dreams are series of thoughts, images or emotions that occur while one is sleeping. Dream is an activity observed or enacted in one’s sleep and impressed in one’s memory so that when one wakes up, it is remembered vividly and can be relayed.
“And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him”
{Matthew 2:12-13}.
A dream is a spiritual monitor in the spirit world. It is a supernatural way through which God speaks to His people.
Dreams might occur as a result of a current activity. It may also manifest as an occasion. For some people, dreams can also take the shape of a message. It might also be perceived as an assault on the dreamer. Failure to remember dreams could result in catastrophe. The majority of people frequently experience dreams that are difficult to remember and easily forgotten. Dreams should be taken seriously by believers, but we are not to put our faith in them. The Bible should be the source of our confidence.
God spoke to people (believers and unbelievers) through dreams in the past and still does so today. However, we must check every idea, thought, or dream with the word of God. Secondly, we must pray seriously after dreams and commit all things to God.
“For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction”
(Job 33:1-16).

Characteristics of Dreams that Come from the Devil
- It afflicts with sickness.
- It deceives and confuses.
- It can kill, steal or destroy.
- It can darken your vision.
When you don’t dream at all, it is riskier. It implies that you are unaware of both the devil’s and God’s strategies. The deceiver of this age cannot trick you if you are aware of God’s will and have learned how to pray in response to dreams. The con artists of Babylon took advantage of the superstitions of the time to profit greatly from erroneous dream interpretation. Today, there are a lot of liars around, so we need to be careful. It’s important to read God’s word and to pray.
Nebuchadnezzer, the great genius, warrior and king, in the height of his prosperity was troubled by a dream in the coast of Babylon.
”And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him. Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream”
(Daniel 2:1-3).
Instead of turning to God and prayerfully removing the negatives in his life and dreams, the decided turning to men. Some turn to diviners and the occultic people.
“Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation. The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill, but if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it. The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me. But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof. The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh”
{Daniel 2:4-11}.
