Long life is the wish of every man. God also desires that every man live long and well according to His purpose. God’s mercy guarantees a long life.
The Source of True and Happy Long Life.
Long life is good, but to live long without reference to God is worse than death and as profitable as nothing. Cain lived longer than Abel, but his life was a total waste and worse than useless.
“Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine“. Psalms 33:18, 19
The Fear Of God Guarantees Longevity.
One of the best things that can happen to anyone on earth is to have the fear of God. Such people will obtain divine mercy, deliver their souls from death, and be kept alive in times of famine.
The Mercy Of God Preserves Lives.
When God’s mercy appears, scarcity bows, and abundance becomes inevitable. It was by the mercy of God that Joseph was able to feed a whole nation and preserve the children of Israel in time of famine. By God’s mercy, Elijah’s life was maintained through many years of famine while many were wasted in Israel. Many widows lost their lives in Israel in times of famine, but God, by His mercy, preserved the life of the widow of Zarephath.
“Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die“. 1 Kings 17:9-12
The mercy of God came upon this woman when she provided food to sustain the man of God. Other widows and their children might have died, but by God’s grace, the life of this widow and her child was preserved. By God’s grace and mercy, their lives were spared from destruction, and lack was banished from her family.
You may be alive by God’s grace, but the quality of your life may have been reduced to almost nothing. When mercy comes, there will be an increase and plenty of supplies for all you need.
“And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah“. 1Kings 17:13-16
The Role of Obedience in Receiving God’s Mercy
When you obey God’s command or instructions from a true man of God, mercy will fight your battles. The widow of Zarephath was getting ready to die in the time of famine, but mercy spared her life.
Divine Mercy in the Time of Famine
The famine of her time took everything she had and left her with just a handful of meals in a barrel and a little oil in a cruise. She was ready to give up her life and that of her son after eating their last meal. All her hope for survival in the time of famine was gone, and death was lurking at the corner, waiting to consume her and her son. It was a big celebration in the kingdom of darkness. While using her last strength to gather two sticks, Prophet Elijah came with divine mercy.
This blog has come to you with divine mercy. Someone more than Elijah is bringing the mercy of God to you through this program. Jesus embodies God’s mercy and has come to rescue you from all bondage. You are expected to cooperate with Jesus like the woman of Zarephath co-operated with Elijah. The economic situation and demonic famine may be waiting to disgrace you, but mercy will deliver you. By the power in the name of Jesus, I decree that you will experience much more than what happened to the widow of Zarephath.
God’s mercy comes with the power to stop evil movement and shut the mouth of the grave from swallowing you and the members of your family. The mercy of God terminates famine, hunger, and scarcity and delivers the oppressed from oppression. If you receive God’s mercy, you will not only live long, but you will live to enjoy every good thing around you. God’s grace suspends demonic activities, but mercy terminates them and delivers the victim. God’s mercy eliminates the powers of darkness.
“For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell. Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, my foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up“. Psalms 86:13; 94:17, 18
The Overwhelming Power of God’s Mercy
All the departments of hell bow before divine mercy, and their captives are released without struggle. Mountains skip and melt any time the mercy of God manifests. At the command of God’s mercy, even the deepest hell submits her captives, how much less other powers. Closed mouths silenced by poverty are loosed when mercy appears. Murderers, destiny killers, and untimely death release their captives when mercy arrives.
