How to Break Evil Yokes

In most cases, when a true believer or a person who is born again is in trouble, God always looks for his or her faith. Once such a person has faith in Christ, his yoke will be broken. And so it is faith that breaks the yoke most of the time.

“And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague”

Mark 5:34

Take, for instance, the lives of these biblical characters. Through prayers, the evil yoke attached to the name of Jacob was broken, and his name was changed from Jacob to Israel (see Genesis 35:14–15). When everybody, including Isaiah, confirmed that God was determined to take away the life of Hezekiah, it was faith and prayers that saved the situation. After the prayer of faith in righteousness, God healed him and added fifteen years to his life, minus sorrow, headaches, and any form of infirmity for those fifteen years.

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, thus saith the Lord, set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, … Go, and say to Hezekiah, thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years

Isaiah 38:1-2, 5

Elijah prayed in faith, and God answered him in the affirmative. God’s answer broke the yoke of false worship in Israel and gave rain to the whole nation after three years and six months (see 2 Kings 18:1-46). Isn’t it wonderful? The yoke of the devil can be broken by prayers and fasting. Every yoke in your life can be broken once you repent of all your sins and forsake them through prayer and faith in Christ. Yokes are broken when sincere prayers are offered to God in faith. I challenge you to begin to pray, and your yokes shall be broken by fire.

One of the ways you can do this is by understanding how to praise God. You might be wondering what praise has to do with breaking yokes. The scripture says that we should not be mindful of anything, but by prayers and supplication, with thanksgiving, let our request be made known to God.

“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God”

Philippians 4:6

Paul and Silas gave us a practical example when they were in trouble. At midnight, almost at the time of the satanic execution, the exact time that Paul and Silas were meant to be killed, they started singing songs of praise to God. As they were still singing, the Lord sent a great earthquake to break their yokes. Their praises attracted a divine earthquake that touched the very foundations of the prison house. Every place was shaking; suddenly and without delay, their yokes were broken. The power of God was released, and immediately, all the doors of the prison were opened, while at the same time, everyone’s chains were unfastened and loosened.

“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself; supposing that the prisoners had been freed”

Acts 16:25-27

Recognize how all their yokes were broken just by singing praises. This hour is your own midnight. You too can break your own yoke. You may have heard that God adores praise and worship; it is like food to him. Every battle is not meant to be fought with just any weapon. Therefore, you must approach God for directives, as you may not use physical weapons at times. You may need to pray a little and sing praises on the battlefield, and your yokes will be broken.

Praise and worship are great weapons for breaking yokes in the life of a true believer. It can break every evil yoke and lay ambushes against your enemies. Use your weapon today!
