Understanding the Enemy: Overcoming Satan

If you are really born-again by God’s Spirit, you have the power to overcome every evil thing that is being done in this world. This is the beginning of true and genuine victory, the ability to stand and say no to evil activities, the ability to believe in Christ without being ashamed to profess Him anywhere. The ability to say no to anything in the world that has a worldly attachment or condition that contradicts God’s word and to stand until the end. 

The ability to resist and overcome evil desires of the flesh, eyes, and life’s pride, and to say no until the end; the ability to do God’s will, to do the right thing even when others are doing the wrong thing, and to keep your faith until the end. Separation from worldly activities is not going to be easy; it has tribulations in it, but the promise is that you will overcome.

As an overcomer, the next power or personality you will overcome to inherit the new heaven and the new earth is Satan. If you know your enemy well, your battle becomes easy. God has written to all adults, the fathers, the young ones, and the children, to let them know that Satan is an enemy. However, if you are not born of God, repent now and forsake your sins; knowing God’s word and will and keeping them until the last moment makes you an overcomer.

The devil, the wicked one, may be strong, but if you want to be stronger to overcome him, you have to be born again. If you keep God’s word and obey Him, the devil will not touch you. You have to learn how to use the blood of Jesus, the Lamb’s blood, shed by Christ on the cross, to fight. Similarly, you have to testify of God’s power over the devil; your confession must be positive; doing the right thing according to God’s word must be preferred above your life. You must not deny God in fear of losing your life. You must follow God’s word over man’s.

I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one’

1 John 2:13-14

Finally, to overcome means to prevail, have victory, and be triumphant over your tempters and temptresses. If you fail to overcome, you will be punished eternally for ever and ever.
