Who Is Your Idol?
A question we're often asked; who you admire the most, what you desire all the time. You can't just do without it, even when you want to pull away you find yourself indulging once more. Idols were made to distract you, to take something away from you, to shift your focus from its direction. And the moment you give in to these idols, you'll unleash a great deal of chaos in your life and family.
What is Idolatry?
Idolatry which happens to be the very first commandment, is a delicate subject as God frowns upon it greatly. Idolatry consists of walking after other gods, speaking in the name of other gods, looking to other gods, serving other gods or worshipping the true God with an image.
If you make sacrifices to, or worship any idol, you are God’s enemy. If you join any cult, witchcraft group or turn to devil worship, you are God’s enemy. God warned that those who came out from Egypt, saved from sin through repentance (Ephesians 2:12-13, 19-20; Colossians 2:8), must not allow themselves to be ensnared and spoiled. You are ensnared through joining idol worshippers to make, worship or sacrifice to images. You are ensnared when you swear by other gods.
God even forbade the children of Israel from making any images in His likeness because no one knows what He looks like. The worst punishment that can befall anyone on earth is the destruction that comes through sacrificing to gods (Exodus 22:20). God hates idolatry because it is abominable, vain, bloody, unprofitable and foolishness before the Almighty.
Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 19:4
Many believers have defiled themselves by bowing down to images in their places of worship. You may be an innocent believer that loves images of naked women with demonic carved images scattered around your home. In time, such images may be demon possessed. The spirit behind naked demonic carved images will possess such images without your knowledge. It will cause problems to beset your household in time. Such images may be entertaining, causing you to derive sinful pleasure from them. There is a god called the god of entertainment that makes people love the pleasures derived from naked images more than God.
Idolatry causes men to forget God. It makes them go astray from God. It pollutes the name of God, and defiles any place it touches, making men to forsake God and provoke Him. You can do away with these Idols at any time but the Word of God forever stays pure and true. Find out more and prayerfully banish your idols.
