“We are not supposed to travel this road of faith alone. The notion of community is deeply embedded in Christian beliefs. A faith-filled community is essential to our spiritual fight, in addition to providing friendship and support. Humanity was meant for community from the beginning. When fighting spiritual forces, it’s common to feel outnumbered and overwhelmed. However, Ecclesiastes 4:12 tells us that “even if one is overpowered, two can defend themselves.” A cable with three strands is not easily broken.” When we stand together in faith, we become a strong force against the enemy’s designs.
A faith-filled community offers encouragement and support along the challenging road of spiritual warfare. In Hebrews 10:24-25, the apostle Paul encourages Christians to “spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” During times of weakness or uncertainty, other Christians encourage us and remind us of God’s promises.
Accountability and Protection
Community accountability helps prevent spiritual assaults. Galatians 6:1-2 says, “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should gently restore that person.” However, keep an eye out or you may get seduced as well. “Carry each other’s burdens, and you will fulfill Christ’s law.” By holding one other responsible and delivering correction in love, we shield ourselves against the enemy’s traps.
A faith-filled community is essential for spiritual combat, not a luxury. Together, we are stronger, pray more passionately, and encourage one another to persevere in faith.
