Effects of Abusing God’s Grace

The effects of abusing the grace of God

If you despise or ignore God’s grace, it will not work for you. If you go into sin and live as an unbeliever after receiving the grace of God, you will live under the condemnation of the devil. If you fail to respect the presence of God’s grace, you will lack ministrations that come from God’s grace. If you allow the root of bitterness or any sin to spring up again in your life after receiving God’s grace, you will lack God’s defense in the day of trouble.

O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so, will we render the calves of our lips“. Hosea 14:1, 2

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ“. Jude 4

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” Romans 6:1

What causes people to fall from Grace?

Iniquity and sin can cause you to fall from grace. Sin brings condemnation, and causes people to abuse God’s grace. It’s wrong to go back to sin, remain in sin, or live unholy after experiencing God’s grace.

Can the grace of God manifest where sin abound?

Where sin abounds, grace cannot continue to function or manifest in the life of a sinful person. You can make the grace of God you have received void, vain, or frustrated.

But by the grace of God, I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me“.1 Corinthians 15:10

We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain“. 2 Corinthians 6:1

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain“. Galatians 2:21

It’s only through God’s grace that you can operate the way God has ordained.

God’s original plan for Paul manifested after he encountered God’s grace

Paul was successful in the world according to human standards but not in the way God ordained for him. His original or true identity, God’s plan for his life, only manifested after receiving God’s saving grace. God did not recognize all his labor before he received the saving grace.

Paul maximized the grace of God upon his life

When he received God’s grace, he didn’t allow it to waste but used it to glorify God. There were many people Paul met in Corinth who received God’s saving grace but refused to put it to work. He admonished them not to receive the grace of God in vain. As soon as you get born again but fail to submit to God’s grace, you frustrate the purpose of God for your life. It’s very dangerous to operate outside God’s grace. It will shut you off from His mercies and all its benefit

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah“. Psalms 77:9

God can forget to be gracious to you if you neglect His grace or refuse to allow it to work in your life. Sacrifices can open you up to grace, but grace can never come or be gotten through bribery (Genesis 32:5; 33:8-11). You can receive human favor through bribery, just like Jacob bribed Esau with a morsel of bread, but it does not work that way with God.

Human grace is limited

Human grace may commence but is not enduring like the grace that comes from God. After the death of Jacob and Esau, their children never forgave the sons of Jacob. The mercy that Jacob received from Esau never lasted. The Edomites, who are Esau’s children, and Israel’s children never ceased fighting each other (1 Kings 11:15-22).

Why you should never abuse the grace of God

God’s grace is dependable but not predictable. If you capitalize on God’s grace to sin against Him, you will not go free completely even after repentance. The spirit behind such willful sin may stay to hunt you, and if you do not thoroughly dislodge them through spiritual warfare, they can kill, steal, or destroy you shortly.

And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?” 2 Samuel 12:22

The devastating effect of David’s willful sin

The violence of Absalom, the immorality of King Solomon, and the incest of Tamar and Amnon came from the evil foundation of David’s willful adultery.

God releases the grace to overcome the demons and problems that are involved. The problem is that most believers fail to use that grace to fight their foundational demons, but David did. The grace worked for him because he didn’t receive it in vain, but his children fell short of this divine grace.

Sin will expose you to satanic attack and destruction. When you obtain God’s grace and fail to maintain it, you can go into sin willfully, and your life will be exposed to satanic attacks and a broken cistern that cannot hold water. Nothing good will last long or survive in your life. You will be reduced to a servant or an enslaved person with all kinds of limitations without help.

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?” Jeremiah 2:13, 14

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so, the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph“. Amos 5:14, 15

When you receive God’s grace, be conscious of what you do; seek good, not evil. If you constantly want to operate under divine grace, hate evil, love good, and establish good judgment.
