In a world full of spiritual difficulties and struggles, we must train our children for spiritual combat from a young age. Ephesians 6:11-12 encourages us to “put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” For we do not struggle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Understanding Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare is the continual conflict between the forces of God and evil. This conflict has far-reaching consequences for all of us, even our children. It is a spiritual struggle, needing spiritual instruments and armor. As parents and guardians, we have a duty to educate our children these realities and assist them comprehend that they are battling spiritual forces rather than individuals, emphasizing the role of faith in children’s relationships.

Teaching the Armor of God

One of the most effective methods to train children for spiritual battle is to educate them about God’s Armor, which is detailed in Ephesians 6:13-17. Each element of the armor has a unique purpose and is essential for standing firm in the Lord, a critical aspect of spiritual protection for kids.

Encourage Prayer and Worship

Prayer is an effective instrument in spiritual battle. Teach kids about prayer points for children and how to pray without stopping (1 Thessalonians 5:17), making prayer a regular part of their lives. Encourage them to pray for their anxieties, struggles, and the strength to resist temptation. Worship is also a potent weapon. It focuses our hearts on God rather than our concerns or difficulties, expressing our faith in Him.

Fostering a Relationship With God

A solid connection with God is essential in spiritual battle. Teach youngsters to read their Bible every day, not as a chore, but as a means to hear from God. Discuss the Bible verses for kids and lessons with them, guiding them to apply God’s Word in their daily lives. Encourage kids to ask questions and seek God in whatever they do, integrating Christian parenting tips into daily interactions.

Building Resilience with Testimonies

Share stories of spiritual successes from both the Bible and modern life. The stories of David, Daniel, and Esther demonstrate how God delivers and protects His people. Sharing personal or family religious tales might help to encourage and reinforce their spiritual determination.

Preparing our children for spiritual warfare entails more than simply teaching them how to protect themselves; it also entails equipping them to continue ahead in their faith with confidence, knowing that God is waging their battles with them. By providing them with the necessary skills and information, we not only prepare them for today’s spiritual conflicts, but also for a lifetime of fearlessly walking with the Lord, a cornerstone in raising godly children.
